Going home

I'm going home today. The doctors said I'll be discharged by noon. Not sure if that is going to happen, but I'm trying to be patient.

I had surgery on Tuesday and have my new catheter placed. It has three lumens this time and is on the left side of my chest. They weren't able to place it in the same place as the other because of scar tissue. I'm still really sore from it, but they've had me off the IV since yesterday so I've just been taking Tylenol.

I have an appointment with Barnes tomorrow morning and will see Dr. Westervelt in the afternoon. I don't plan on being admitted tomorrow. I'm hoping for a weekend at home. I want to spend time with my family and try to put on some weight. Last I was weighed I had dropped to the mid-90s. I lost a lot this time and look pretty bad. Between my arms and bony body I think I look like a heroin addict. Thankfully I'm just sick.

Thank you for your prayers. Thanks also to Meam, Rachel, Anne, Aunt Susie and Kathie for the cards of encouragement.

Amy, I had to laugh that you're thankful you're "just" sick and not a heroine addict! LOL Praying that your visit at Barnes tomorrow goes well and that you will be able to spend the weekend at home w/your family.

Your courage is astounding! God is using you to bless others through this horrible illness.

God bless you,

I'm so glad you'll get a little time at home. And I hope you put a little weight back on.

You're amazing. I suppose it is better to be sick than addicted to heroin. I'll just be glad when you're not sick any more and that day will come.

Meantime, enjoy this time with your husband and baby. They'll be so happy to have you home with them.

Still praying for you.

What awesome news this is to read! I will certainly be praying for good things at Barnes as well as some time at home! I am sure that away from icky hospital food, you could put some weight on!

You are amazingly courageous and every day that I pray for you I marvel at how God has used you in the lives of so many!

God bless you and your family!

Amy,
I am glad you are going home. We have been praying every day that your body would respond to the transplant and that God would preserve you through this treatment.
2 Cor.4:7
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourrselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God and not ourselves.

Deut. 31:8
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you.

Love,
Gina

Psalm 71:20-21
(New International Version)

20 Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter,
you will restore my life again;
from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up.

21 You will increase my honor
and comfort me once again.

Yes, thank God you are sick of body, not of soul, as heroine addicts are! I know this first hand, because our son is a delivered heroine addict!! Praise the Lord.
