Tuesday Morning Update and Prayer Requests

This is Anita, Amy's mom, posting for her this morning. Brandon was able to spend a long weekend with her but had to return home last evening so he could get to work today. One of Amy's latest chest x-rays showed that the fungal pneumonia is still persisting and has caused her to feel pretty poorly. The doctors have begun several new medications to try to fight the infection. In the meantime, Amy is experiencing a lot of pain, difficulty sleeping, and numerous side effects from these drugs. She is struggling with confusion. Another chest x-ray was taken early this morning and we still wait for the doctor to make rounds to learn the result. She is also having swelling due to fluid retention. Drugs will most likely be administered for that problem today. Overall, Amy just feels pretty lousy and I know if she were the one writing she would ask you to pray for her -- for freedom from this pain, for rest, and for progress toward the second transplant. Her sister Elizabeth, Lizzie, will be here at Barnes tomorrow to begin her pre-donor testing. As always we thank you as her family for faithfully remembering her in prayer. We continue to trust her health to the Lord, her Creator and Great Physician. I will let you know more as the day progresses. Hopefully she will feel better by this evening and can have a good night of rest. We are also remembering our other friends who suffer with various forms of cancer and pain -- Joe, Brian, Robin, Sandy, Paige, Heather, Joel, Donna, Colleen, Marie. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Anita for Amy

Bless your heart, Anita. Thanks for posting that prayer request for Amy and giving us an update. You are so full of strength for Amy and I know she has appreciated all your loving devotion and support.

I will continue praying that the swelling will go down and that she will feel some relief from the pain. I am so sorry that she is not feeling so well today and had such a hard night sleeping--I also will be praying for her body to be renewed strength-wise so that she will be ready and capable of the next step which is the upcoming transplant and ultimate healing.

Thanks Anita for being a woman of strength and faith, and hanging in there through it all with life-giving words and a self-sacrificing love for your daughter that is not going unnoticed.

With love and blessings,
Carol

Thank you so much for the update on Sis. Amy. I am saddened to hear that she is feeling so badly. She is certainly in our thoughts and prayers. We will be praying for these things specifically. Please let her know we love her and are praying earnestly for her. Eagles View Baptist Church in Rex, GA carries a burden for her!!! Thank you again Anita for keeping us informed. We are also praying for Lizzie as she begins these beginning stages of tests.

Anita....our prayers also go out for you and the rest of the family as you continue to go through this with Sis. Amy. It is no less easier on y'all than her I'm sure...for I know you don't feel her physical pain but mental pain as you watch her go through this. I did not want to forget to let you know how much we love and appreciate all of you as well. You need God's strength to be abundant in your lives as well.

Thanks for the update Anita. We stopped in to see Amy this Friday when we were at Siteman. We didn't stay long because I know how little time she gets to spend with her hubby.
I hope the little tidbits of chocolate were able to be enjoyed. As much as I love chocolate I have had many days when I couldn't even think about enjoying that simple treat. I'm sure others enjoyed the treats if Amy was unable to.
As I read your update this morning I remembered a saying from a book of meditations that I thought might console Amy as I know it has helped me during times of both physical and emotional suffering.

See suffering as part of the solution, not the problem.

When I was able to give a purpose to the suffering it seemed to make it more bearable. I know how hard the tough days are. How it is impossible to focus on anything except wondering when the pain will stop. The cure is waiting and soon we can move through the suffering together.

You and your family are in my prayers. I pray for my selfless donor and for your Lizzie as she prepares to give Amy such an amazing gift. Hang tough. I'll be seeing you soon!

This update brought tears to my eyes, not being able to even fathom what Amy endures and prays to be free from.

I continue to pray for her, continue to be inspired and ministered to through her, and continue to keep her in my constant thoughts that only God can see and answer.

Anita, bless you and may God give you strength. Lord, Bless Amy and her family. Give them all courage, strength, and faith to endure this trial...Give them comfort and peace and guide her medical team to treat her to the best of their ability. Exceed their hopes, Lord. In Jesus name.

As always, Amy, praying for you.

Anita,
Thankyou so much for the update on AMy. She is the most courageous young woman I know. I added these requests to my laptop screen so I can pray throughout the day for AMy.
I pray for all of you as well because this affects you as well.
Lizzie is one brave young lady and We pray for her as well. She is a precious little sister.
We are in constant prayer that this will be what it takes to put Amy in full remmision, that is my greatest prayer. Tell her we are all right here with her?

I learned of Amy through Colleen and have been praying for her since February. I also, as a mother, pray for you - to see your child suffer so much must be near to unbearable. I know our Lord is able to sustain you. May He get the glory as He shows Himself strong on your behalf. We will continue in prayer...
